The support we offer can be anything from before/after school support, respite support giving parents of children a well deserved rest, personal care and even end of life care. Karen Claypole

CEO / CQC Registered Manager

Karen is the owner and founder of KC Care and has over 30 years’ experience in domiciliary, respite and residential care. While Karen is predominantly office based she still enjoys delivering front line care and often covers regular carers shifts due to sickness or holidays, or sometimes just because she can. Karen absolutely loves getting to know our clients and their friends and families. She also enjoys organising themed events for special occasions such as Easter Bunny and Father Christmas visits.

Michelle Roberts

Service Compliance Manager / AP Lead / Designated Safeguarding Lead

Michelle is the newest member of the KC Care Management Team and comes to us with extensive experience supporting children and young people in residential care and supported living. Michelle is our Safeguarding Lead so any concerns regarding safeguarding are picked up and dealt with by Michelle. Michelle is predominantly office based but does enjoy meeting clients and their families. Michelle also manages and leads SensAble, our alternative education provision.

Assistant Manager / Care Coordinator / Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead

Jodie has been with KC Care since its inception and has worked her way up from carer to the Senior Management Team. Jodie is predominantly office based but also keeps her toe in the water doing front line care supporting both domiciliary clients and our wellbeing centre clients. Jodie is the face of the senior management team you’re most likely to come across as she is responsible for creating care plans and completing risk assessments. Jodie particularly enjoys our work with children.

Designated Safeguarding Lead

Michelle has extensive experience in safeguarding children and adults at risk of harm. Our DSL supports staff with safeguarding concerns and training. Michelle is also a qualified tutor and creates and delivers in house safeguarding training to the whole staff team.

As DDSL Jodie assists the DSL with Safeguarding related concerns. At KC Care we activiely promote a culture of Safeguarding across the whole team.

React To Red Skin Champion

Jodie is our React To Red Skin Champion at KC Care. She is trained to be able to assess any red skin areas that could potentially become a pressure sore. If staff notice any red skin areas that do not blanch when pressed they will raise this with Jodie who will go out and assess and then take any action necessary to prevent the area developing into a pressure ulcer.

Hydration Champion

Our Hydration Champion at KC Care is a designated individual, who is trained to promote and support our clients ' hydration. They raise awareness, encourage optimal fluid intake, and help implement strategies to improve hydration. This role is crucial in preventing dehydration,among our clients, All our domciliary care clients receive a visit from our Hydration Champion three times a week from our Hydration Champion - this is a free service for all domiciliary care clients.

Our Children's Services
We are regulated by CQC to offer childrens care and support packages. The support we offer can be  anything from before/after school support, respite support giving parents  a well deserved rest, personal care and even end of life care.

All children we work with have access to our beautiful sensory rooms where they can explore the world around them in a comforting, calm and safe space.

The services and activities we provide for children are all delivered by trained staff and all staff are fully vetted and DBS checked.

Our childrens services will be tailored to your child's needs, wants and capabilities so no two support packages are the same but can include:

- Sensory play
- Messy play
- Arts and crafts
- Trips to the park
- Swimming

We look after children with mild - moderate learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities and complex needs.

We also offer after school provision and can collect from local schools - get in touch for further information.

Our Domiciliary Care Services
We provide domiciliary (in the home) care for all ages from birth to end of life, and everything in between. Our domicliary care services are regulated by CQC. At our last inspection we were rated GOOD - you can view the full inspection report on our policices page.

Basic Tasks:
  • Personal care. Including washing, bathing, dressing. 
  • Meal, snack, and drink preparation. Including assistance with feeding when/if required.
  • Shopping
  • Support to access the community. Including for leisure and appointment purposes.
Specialist Tasks (undertaken by fully trained staff)
  • Dementia and Alzheimer’s
  • End Of Life Care
  • Stoma Care (Colostomy, Ileostomy, PEG andUrostomy) 
  • Catheter Care (changing of urine bags only)
  • Assistance with ear and eye drops 
  • Some staff are trained in Epilepsy, Buccal Midazolam and VNS

Five Senses
Five Senses consists of two large sensory rooms. Our beautifully calming sensory rooms offer a unique opportunity to explore the world through all five senses, providing an immersive experience that is both engaging and soothing. Designed to stimulate creativity and relaxation,these spaces are perfect for all ages, offering a captivating environment where curious minds can discover new textures, sounds, sights,smells, and tastes in a safe and controlled setting. 

We offer drop in sessions for children to stay with us for a maximum of two hours allowing parents to attend appointments, meetings, gym. We also provide after school care for up to two hours, with school pick up available. 

Each sensory room can be booked for exclusive use by the hour, half day, or full day.

SensAble:Learning For Everyone
We are registered as an AQA training centre allowing us to offer accredited training programs for all ages and abilities. Our focus is on meeting the needs of people with learning disabilities and/or autism, as well as offering Alternative Education provision to children from Y3 - Y12 who struggle with mainstream school. However our programmes can be developed and tailored to meet individual needs and capabilities so are open to all regardless of any SEND needs.

Children accessing our Alternative Provision will complete work which is centred around the curricullum of the referring school, ensuring that when they transition back to mainstream their learning will be inline with their peers.  As well as core curricullum subjects programs will include age appropriate PHSE topics. All learning programs will be bespoke to the child and their capabilities. 

Our life skills and independent living skills programmes are especially suited to children who are looked after by the LA reaching adulthood and starting to transition to independent or semi independent living.

We ​provide ear defenders, dark glasses, fidget ​toys and stress balls for those who struggle with sensory overload.

We offer programs in areas like:

  • Transition Age Independent Living Skills 
  • Arts & Crafts
Wellbeing Club
We provide a warm and welcoming spacefor people of all ages and from all backgrounds. Our space has been designed to be dementia, LD and autism friendly. We have arts and crafts and board games, a TV and cd player (particularly popular with clients with dementia).

We offer hourly or day sessions including hot and cold refreshments and snacks. Hot meals can be provided on request(additional charges apply).

We can offer support to people wanting to access the community whether this be to attend appointments, go on a shopping trip, attend social events or even days out in our minibus.

Safeguarding Training
